The application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) marks a milestone in medical science. AI is set to usher in a new era of hope for patients.
The central theme of INDISETU KOLKATA 2026 was how the use of AI can fundamentally transform the healthcare delivery system.
Senior representatives from the World Health Organization (WHO), Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), AIIMS, IIT Kharagpur, Apollo Hospital Academia, the State Government, and industry bodies came together at the high-level conclave of INDISETU KOLKATA 2026 held on 15th July at Taj Talkutir.
The event was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Government of West Bengal, and renowned physician Dr. Sharadwat Mukhopadhyay.
Experts participating in the conclave expressed optimism that Artificial Intelligence will establish significant milestones across every domain of healthcare. From maintaining accurate health data to medical education, health insurance, and various aspects of clinical practice, the use of AI is expected to ultimately benefit patients. It is also anticipated to reduce the burden on hospitals.
On this occasion, concerns were raised that the widespread use of Artificial Intelligence in healthcare could lead to a reduction in job opportunities. However, experts clarified that this is not the case. It is not about job losses, but rather a major transformation in the global job market driven by technology. Numerous new employment opportunities are expected to emerge across various sectors.
Dr. Amit Ghosh, Senior Consultant Urologist and Founder of INDISETU, stated that there is no longer any doubt that AI is an extremely powerful tool for both developing and implementing cutting-edge technologies. He added that the primary objective of INDISETU is to build a bridge toward a transparent and technologically advanced healthcare system for the future.
