Rajkumar Das ,10th May, 2023, Kolkata: Dum Dum Park Tarun Sangha Puja Committee had organised an event named “Unmochan” an unconventional adda session on Durga Puja followed by unveiling of the Puja Committee Logo and banner of Durga Puja 2023 in esteemed presence of eminent Bengali actress Koneenica Bandyopadhyay at Park Hotel, Kolkata.
In 1999, their Baroyari Durga Puja, donned a new form with the aid of artist Rupchand Kundu. It was that year, when they commenced their first theme-based puja, with the puja mandap and idol erected in line with an artistic theme. It was a unique milestone in the history of Dum Dum Park Tarun Sangh Puja, as their presentation was praised by various media that year and the following year they were awarded the highest award for Durga Puja for the first time.
Every year, thousands of people from Kolkata, its suburbs and entire Bengal flock to participate and experience their creation, to visit the mandap and artworks. The thoughts behind the themes of their puja have been a reflection of devotion towards society and its welfare. It has not only been confined to just the theme but has also diffused into our activities. Organizing regular distribution of clothes to the needy, organization of health camps, eye check-up camps, and distribution of van rickshaws to uplift the backward working youth of society are just some examples. During the recent Corona epidemic, our club's unrelenting goal was to stand up and support the people of the area. Every year they come up with different themes of the puja. This year we are keeping our finger crossed and eagerly waiting to eye witness something unique which Dum Dum Park Tarun Sangha is going to present in the Durga Puja.
Dhrubojyoti Bose, Durga Puja organizer said “We firmly stand by the belief that we will be able to carry forward our vision of unifying social welfare with the creative offering of Durga puja in the coming days”. “It's an honour to be here today at this event. This is a moment to gather, to celebrate our common culture, and to show our respect to the goddess” said Koneenica Bandyopadhyay.
